END OF TERM 3
Room 4 students can be very proud of all their learning this term.
We finished the term off with a table tennis tournament. We found out that Seth is a real table tennis expert and we had to get Mrs Simpson to come play to get him out.

Have a very happy and safe holiday everyone!
EXTRA SPECIAL TREAT
At every assembly this term Mrs Simpson has given out two special certificates. Those who got certificates got the chance to have a special lunch with her at the end of the term.
Jason, Seth, Willow (from Room 4) and
Frazer (Room 5) were the lucky ones pulled out of the hat.
On the last Friday
of the term they enjoyed having great conversations together while eating a
huge feast of McDonalds.
Thank you Mrs Simpson.

WHAT A DAY
Today has been a big exciting day.
First thing this morning we had the house quiz. We were in groups of 3 or 4 students in our house. The quiz involved a range of questions from naming music to capital cities. It was so much fun and we learnt lots!
It was also burger day! The burgers were scrumptious. Thank you to Miss Simpson and the student council for doing such a great job and organising this for us.
Lastly but certainly not least, this afternoon we had the gutter-board finals. It was very interesting to see all the different strategies that the finalists used.

RAIN!
On Wednesday Room 4 were disappointed that it was raining. This meant our sports rotation had to be cancelled. We whipped up a poem to explain our thoughts and then bright rain art.
Will it be sport day?
Or will the rain stay?
Wet, heavy rain fell on shivering bodies
Were we prepared for this day?Or will the rain stay?
Wet, heavy rain fell on shivering bodies
Puddles grew, getting in everyone’s way
The umbrellas and raincoats came out to play
We then wondered if the rain was see-through. Blue? Grey? Why not green?
Imagine if paint fell replacing the rain…
RECIPROCAL READING GROUP REFLECTION
This week during reciprocal reading we read an article about
how taste buds works. The article was called “Mmm, that’s Tasty” written by
Neville Gardner.
We learnt that a receptor is a group of 100 cells that form a taste bud. We also learnt that umami is a scientific word for savoury. Your tongue is made up of papilla which contains taste buds, connective tissue, salivary glands and a layer of muscle.

Did you know that when you get older you can’t taste as well
as children? This is because taste buds take longer to be replaced, the more
hot food and drinks you have the longer your taste buds take to get replaced.
When we went over our learning with Miss Campbell it was
perfect timing because the dental nurse Vikki came in and helped up with our
learning.

GARDEN PROJECT
After taking a look at our class garden last Friday we
realised we had a problem! Some sneaky creatures have been having a ball in our
garden and eating our plants.
We had to come up with a solution! Room 4 were full of
creative ideas to keep out any unwanted visitors. We narrowed our options down
to two plans.
Next, it was time to take action. We all got on board, got
our hands dirty, worked together and did lots of problem solving!
Message from Miss Campbell:
I was extremely impressed with the way everyone showed initiative and problem sovled to look after our garden and environment. Let’s
keep a close eye on how well the garden grows with the new protection netting
around it. Ka Pai! What a fantastic project.
