Yesterday we went on a bit of a
food hunt out in our growing garden. We were planning on eating all of our
healthy and nutritious food that grew in our class garden. Earlier on Miss Campbell
set a dip in the staffroom fridge to go with the ready veges that we were going
to pick out. When we got to our garden it was time to dig with the spades and
forks to get rid of the nasty weeds. Then we dug holes to put the rock melon
and all the other plants in. We also chopped some celery stalks from our garden
to go with the dip.
Once the celery stalks had been harvested, Jensen and
Leah took them to the staffroom to be cleaned. Once ready, we munched back the
delicious celery, smothering the stalks with dip. Surprisingly the boys
treasured this healthy treat more than the girls! We are all doing our fair share
of work to maintain our class garden. Here is a picture of Riley teaching others
to carefully take veges out of the garden and here is another picture of the
boys loving their fresh kai.Written by Tyler, Greer and Jensen

ReplyDeleteThat was very scrumptious and healthy at the same time we can’t wait until the celery grows back. Maybe next time we could make a salad with our healthy vegetables. Thank you for making this possible Miss Campbell. Who needs junk food when you’ve got yummy celery and dip? Thanks again Miss Campbell.
ReplyDeleteIts awesome to see you growing your own food and to try new things. I find it very rewarding to grow vegetables in my garden and then create a whole meal. My favourite things to pick are strawberries and Cherry tomatoes. By the sounds of your description it sounds as though I need plant some celery!!
