WE WENT SHOPPING IN MATHS THIS WEEK

WALT: Order shopping items from heaviest to lightest
Purpose\ aim: To stack shopping items from heaviest to lightest so that nothing is squashed.
To order our shopping items we first use the human eye, then human scales followed by the blue and red seesaw scales. Some of us used the coat-hanger, scales as well. We estimated the weights of objects. Once we were happy with our order we completed our order by using digital scales as an accurate measure.

RULERS MATHS GROUP

This week our maths group has been learning about weight. Today it was time to put our measuring to the test. We had to follow a recipe and measure extremely accurately so that we could bake a rhubarb crumble. We loved using our measuring skills to use our rhubarb from our very own garden into a crumble!

MATHS THINKING

Question to ask at home:

What weighs more?
A tonne of feathers or a tonne of bricks?

OWN OUR TAKING ACTION PROJECTS

Dear parents and caregivers

Room 4 students have decided that alongside our class taking action projects, individual actions could be taken to help our polluted environment. The children are in their first phase of planning. They are just 'thinking' about what an achievable action could be for them.

Options may include:
-promoting good environment behaviour at the dinner table
-pick up rubbish
-call a friend or talk to neighbours about the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch" so that others are aware of the impacts of littering

Please support your child/children by discussing this with them at home.
It is fantastic to see everyone is so excited and passionate about making a difference.

Many thanks
Miss Campbell

NOTICES FROM THE TEACHER

Dear Room 4 children

We always have lots going on so it is important to note down what the week has in store for us.

From now on we have Kapa Haka every Tuesday from 2.15pm. This means we need to change of our library time.
Library is now WEDNESDAY straight after lunch.

Not only do you need to remember your library books on Wednesday but also your sports gear for Senior Sports Rotation.

Thank you kids for trying your very best in all the assessments you did last week. I am very proud of everyone.

From Miss Campbell

WHEELS DAY

Friday was Wheels Day. It was so much fun. We zoomed around and showed our skills on wheels.
We even tried to race the teachers around the track.
