BODY PERCUSSION

Today we learnt all about body percussion with Miss Simpson.  We found out that body percussion is when you make special 'music', using your body as a musical instrument.  We split up into groups, with only six minutes to put a 30 second performance together.  We had to think fast!  It was lots of fun sharing our music with the rest of the class!

Next we explored a programme called Incredibox.  This super-fun site lets you make up all kinds of cool sounds and beats.

GYMNASTIC GROWTH

When reading 2009 gymnastics writing we felt incredibly embarrassed because we didn't expect to see us so young and our writing so basic. We even used words that are forbidden now.
Now in gymnastics we can pull ourselves up on the bar using our upper strength. We can do this now because we are stronger.
Now that we can do forwards rolls we are leaning to do cartwheels and round offs. Through the years our confidence has grown so we are not afraid to make mistakes in gymnastics.

SENIOR SCHOOL MATHEX

To celebrate Maths Week the senior school came together to participate in a school mathex competition. This was organised by the teachers, the students who competed in Mathex and Mrs Simpson.
The first part consisted of practical questions. We needed to work as a team, we had to cut, glue and problem solve. The second part was quick fire questions. We had 20 minutes to do as many tasks as we could.
It was a great opportunity to learn and experience what mathex is all about. Now we understand how difficult but fun it was for those who competed at the Manawatu Mathex competition.
There were spot prizes for teams that worked together and 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
