MATHS WEEK PROBLEM 5



Day 5: Logan is in charge of feeding the animals at a small zoo. He places food in 22 enclosures holding one animal. While doing this, Logan counts a total of 64 animal legs. Calculate how many two and four legged animals there are.

  2. There at least has to be 2 legs in each enclosure.
    22 enclosures x 2 legs =44 legs
    64 legs - 44 legs = 20 legs that need to go in cages
    20/2=10 cages that can have four legs
    22-10 = 12 cages that have two legs
    therefore there are 10 animals that have 4 legs and 12 animals that have 2 legs
